When you start planning your decorations, take some time to go and look around the church. Think about the style of your wedding ceremony and how decorations might enhance that style. Consider the lighting in the church and how it might affect your ceremony.

If you are getting married in a holiday period, the church and its altar may already be nicely decorated. Weddings by candlelight are very romantic and beautiful. A wedding ceremony decoration idea is to use candelabras by the altar and candles in the windows to create a romantic mood. Some brides also use candle holders on the pews in place of, or with pew bows for the wedding aisle decorations.
